The Santa Cruz NBG Fest is one of the world's largest events for cross-country and trans-coastal cyclists and will draw cyclists from all over the US.

How did you find out about NBG and why you want to do this ride?
My Italian friend (Aldo) introduced me to Martin Krieg a few summers ago. Because I am alive (& can), the challenge, and a great excuse to get away from work and out of the Bay Area for a few days.

Touring experience:
This year is typical 3 One hundred Mile rides and One 200K nothing longer until now.

Tell us about your bike:
Specialized Crossroads.

Describe your training regimen:
21 miles round trip to work each day. Weekend warrior as time permits.

How many miles do you ride a year?
approx. 5K

Are you car free or interested?
Interesting thought but not in my plans.

How are you making time for this event?
Adding to Summer Vacation Plans.

How many miles do you plan to ride in 2002?
close to 6K

What are your fears about doing this ride?
Getting a flat tire on a busy gravel road with the wind blowing the wrong way, my pocket-mail battery gadget self-training, having to put more on plastic than I would like, and the mess I imagine when I get back.

Do you have any special skills?
Yes

Are you affiliated with any bike club E-mail groups?
I am not a member.

What other activities are you involved in?
Camping, Swimming, Music, Yard Work, Taking Care of the Critters, Working on Houses & Buildings, Computers, & this n that.
