Day 2 of the road trip brought me to 819.6 miles for those collecting "unlimited pledges"!

I drove 455 miles today leaving Iowa City, Iowa making it to Grand Island, Nebraska. As I was preparing the RV to hit the highway I was surprised by a knock at my door. A woman called Nancy stopped by and her family suffers greatly with PKD and she is on dialysis. Luckily, she knew of the PKD Foundation. I told her of Max and I's crusade and gave her my card to help gather pledges for research! A couple of stops @ rest areas brought more PKD awareness when female truckers asked me about PKD after seeing the graphics!

I am happy to say that the bad weather has not stopped the road trip, rather, I was greeted with beautiful blue skies! Shortly, after leaving Iowa City the flat open farm land opened up to gently rolling hills into Nebraska. Today I may make it into Wyoming and be challenged with the Rocky Mtns. Having driven the older 1984 RV for so long I can't help but be a little nervous, however, I think the new RV being driven by a diesel pusher engine should fare well...

I would be lying if I were to say that the road is not taking its toll on my health. The end of my 2nd day found me almost crippled by the pain from my PKD. Being, solely, responsible for all set up, break down and route planning is hard but also keeps me going. I am trying to make good time but may have to stop and rest if my health does not improve today? After all the road trip must go on -- and it will.

I received a call from Friction Zone {motorcycle mag} and they have requested an interview while I am in Los Angeles & will run something in their "back talk" section! This is in addition to several other motorcycle mags. desire to use my story. Woman Rider should call soon for an interview in next issue; Women on Wheels has taken the story for consideration and Motorcycle Madness is linking my driveathon.org site to theirs & has requsted an interview when I hit the East Coast in 2001! These motorcyle mags. were obtained thanks to John Guarino, the PKD Friends Coordinator for CT. He pitched my story to them knowing I am too busy with the road trip so THANKS JOHN!

If any of you know of a company that would support/sponsor me in the areas I am traveling please let me know? Having a corp. helps obtain local media attn. via Press Conferences, etc.

It is 5:00 am of day 3 as I prepare to roll on down the highway...
