Day 39 we are still in Malibu and are happy to advise that our efforts with the Los Angeles media were successful!

This week the Los Angeles Times will be interviewing me for a story! This is very exciting since they are 1 of the top 10 papers in the USA with over 1 million readers!

Also, the Malibu Times {many celebrities read} will be running something in this week's Thanksgiving paper! We pitched the Los Angeles TV media last week but did not have any luck. We are trying again this week so cross your fingers...

There may be a "book signing" of the book Fortitude: True Stories of True Grit, edited by Malinda Teel, in San Diego too. If you have a book store in your area please ask them to order the book because my story {page 64.} is included and the more books on the shelves the more PKD awareness we can gain.

Now that many new elected officials are heading to Washington there is something else all of you can do to help getting PKD funding increased. A House Resolution 537 bill has been submitted to Congress for "getting a sense-of-the house" for support of the PKD Strategic Plan to increase funding. I urge all of you to write a letter to your representatives asking them to support House Res. 537 & increase PKD Funding. It is critical that newly elected officials are informed of the plight of "under funding of PKD" so get those letters out! Also, this is the year we will lobby Congress in conjunction with annual PKD conference in June 2001 so need to pull the PKD issue to the top of their priority list so we will be "listened to" when we call for our appointments and march on Washington in June!

Max and I are working on any avenue we can to gain PKD awareness but have been taking a little time to enjoy the beautiful Malibu area. We surprised a deer on a walk and he jumped high into the air 3 feet in front of us giving the impression he was flying. I don't know who it surprised the most, the deer or Max and I!

Yesterday we watched a beautiful sunset with a school of dolphins leaping high into the air - it was magnificent!

As this Thanksgiving Day approaches Max and I send out our wishes to all of you for a happy holiday! With our success with the media Max and I have a lot to be thankful for -- many with PKD will now find hope -- the purpose of our Road trip...We stopped in at church Sunday to give thanks for all the good things coming from the PKD Road Warrior media tour.

Max, my Dalmatian and traveling companion is getting lots of attention, and loving it, with the new Disney movie "102 Dalmatians" advertised everywhere. We may just go stroll Sunset Strip and see if we can get him in the next movie. Then he can be our PKD celebrity spokesperson. Ha! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and remember to write those letters and ask your bookstore to order the book!
