Biography for Andrew Morton
How did you find out about NBG and why you want to do this ride?
Three years ago I was looking for information on recumbents and found
the bikeroute.com website. I totally bought into Martin's cross
country ride idea.
Touring experience:
My first tour was Sacramento to Santa Cruz (for the 1999 NBG Swing)
then back to Reno. The second was an a scouting ride for the NBG;
Reno to Salt Lake City in April of 2000. The last and biggest was my
(first?) TransAm. In 2001 a buddy and I Reno to Portland, Chicago,
and then Washington D.C. I'll probably get a few more miles in this
summer before the NBG ride.
Tell us about your bike:
It's a 1999 Black BikeE AT. It's a great touring bike, it's not the
fastest but it's comfortable and durable.
Describe your training regimen:
I don't really train. I guess I'm young enough that I can just get
out there and expect the first week to hurt like hell and then just
kick out the miles after that.
How many miles do you ride a year?
Not many this year, after the TransAm I felt like I'd had my fill of
riding for a while. I'm only now getting back into it.
Are you car free or interested?
I was for several years but when my grandfather died in the spring I
was given his pickup truck. I'll probably hang on to it.
How are you making time for this event?
I quit my job and was planning to take the summer off before going to
school in the fall.
How many miles do you plan to ride in 2002?
A bunch.
What are your fears about doing this ride?
I've done enough riding that I'm not too woried.

Occupation:
