=============================================================================== The PocketMail(R) BackFlip(tm) One-Touch Mail(TM) for PocketMail Version 1.1, December 1, 2000 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS AND RELEASE NOTES =============================================================================== The PocketMail BackFlip is the complete affordable e-mail solution for Palm handheld organizers. =============================================================================== IMPORTANT NOTE FOR OWNERS OF VERSIONS 1.0 and 1.0b =============================================================================== Prior installations of versions 1.0 and 1.0b of this software must be deleted from your Palm organizer before proceeding with a new installation. If you install this new version of the software without first deleting all databases from those previous versions, you may encounter malfunctions. To remove prior installations and install the new software: 1. Turn on the Palm organizer and locate the PocketMail icon. If necessary, tap the Home icon to navigate to the Applications screen, and tap the Home icon again if necessary until the PocketMail icon is displayed. 2. Retrieve your current e-mail address: a. Tap the PocketMail icon to enter One-Touch Mail for PocketMail. b. Tap Menu, select Settings, and select Outgoing Mail Prefs. c. Make a note of your email address for use when reinstalling. d. Then tap the Cancel button. 3. Delete the previous installation: a. Tap the Home icon to return to the Applications screen. b. Tap Menu, and select Delete from the App menu. c. Scroll down until you see PocketMail in the list, select PocketMail. d. Tap the Delete button. Tap the Yes button. 4. Install and reactivate the software: a. Follow the installation instructions below. b. At the activation screen, enter your PocketMail e-mail address. c. For the "Code" required on that screen, enter the four letters "gopm". =============================================================================== INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS - WINDOWS =============================================================================== 1. To install the PocketMail software on your Palm organizer, download and expand the Zip file from the Pocket.com website. Double-click on the following files: PocketMail.prc, PMCommLib.prc and PMHelpDB.us.pdb. This should launch the Palm Install Tool. 2. All of the above files should appear in the Install Tool window. If any are missing, click on "Add..." and browse to their current location to select. All three files MUST be installed on your Palm organizer to use your PocketMail BackFlip. 3. Click on Done when the Palm Install Tool window appears. 4. Place your Palm organizer into the HotSync(R) cradle and press the HotSync button. All three files should be transferred from your desktop computer to your Palm organizer. If they do not install, please check your HotSync settings. =============================================================================== INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS - MACINTOSH =============================================================================== 1. Use Aladdin Expander(tm) to open and expand the Zip file archive. If you do not have Aladdin Expander, the application is freely available from this site: http://www.aladdinsys.com/expander/expander_mac_login.html#log 2. Open the Palm Install Tool, and click the Add button. 3. Browse your hard disk and select these three files: PocketMail.prc, PMCommLib.prc and PMHelpDB.us.pdb. 4. Place your Palm organizer into the HotSync(R) cradle and press the HotSync button. All three files will be transferred from your desktop computer to your Palm computer. If they do not install, please check your HotSync settings. =============================================================================== SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS =============================================================================== The PocketMail BackFlip is compatible with the PalmPilot(tm) Professional, Palm III, Palm IIIx, Palm IIIxe, Palm IIIe, Palm IIIc, Palm VII, Palm VIIx and other compatible devices running Palm OS 2.0 and higher. The PocketMail BackFlip with the DockV Pro is compatible with the Palm V, Palm Vx, and IBM WorkPad c3. The application uses approximately 214 KB. A computer running a Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows Me, Windows 2000 or Mac OS 7.0+ operating system is needed to install the software on to your Palm organizer. =============================================================================== RELEASE INFORMATION =============================================================================== Version 1.1 (December 1, 2000) - Resolved "fatal error" when memory in the Palm organizer is entirely full. - Resolved PocketRules logic, which deleted PocketRules on the PocketMail Server when deleted from the Palm organizer. - Resolved PocketRules bug that allowed for blank rules to be set. - Each graffiti shortcut for PocketMail is now unique. - Relocated the "Move To" pop-up to the bottom of the screen. - Improved the Outgoing Mail Prefs option logic by intelligently handling common user entry errors. - Private records are no longer visible when attaching files to a message. - Replying to a message automatically places the cursor in the To: field. - If a space is placed before the e-mail address or fax number in the To: field, the message will now be sent. - Resolved all UI issues having to do with Palm OS 3.5+. - Corrected highlight display issue with Palm 3.5 OS devices. - New PMCommLib version that is fully compatible with the Palm OS 3.5+. Version 1.0b (February 22, 2000) - Using the DockV Pro adapter, the PocketMail BackFlip is compatible with Palm Vx. - Compatible with Palm IIIc. - Send international fax messages.
